Privacy Notice

ABOUT THIS NOTICE

Hoozright is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.

References to 'Hoozright', 'we', 'us', or 'our' refer to HOOZRIGHT LTD, a company registered in Ireland with company number TBC ON INCORPORATION. Our registered address is Killadreenan, Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, IE.

This notice applies to all users of the Hoozright website and app (together, the 'Platform'), wherever in the world you are located. Where additional rights apply to you by reason of your jurisdiction, we note these below.

SECTION 1 — WHAT DATA WE COLLECT

1.1 Account and identity data:

  • Username and display name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored in encrypted form via Firebase Authentication — we never see your password in plain text)
  • Profile information you choose to provide

1.2 Participation and behavioural data:

  • Debates you create, vote on, or comment in
  • Which side you voted for, and when (including vote stage: early, mid, or late)
  • Your Reputation Score and Judge or Jury status
  • Comment content and interaction history
  • Links or text you submit as evidence within a debate

1.3 Payment data:

If you subscribe to Hoozright Premium, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details. We receive a transaction record confirming your subscription status.

1.4 Technical and device data:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited and actions taken on the Platform
  • Referrer information

SECTION 2 — WHY WE COLLECT IT AND OUR LEGAL BASIS

We collect and use your personal data on the following legal bases under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR (as applicable to your location).

ConsentAnalytics cookies (Google Analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time via our cookie settings page.
Legal obligationComplying with applicable laws, responding to lawful requests from authorities, maintaining records as required.

SECTION 3 — HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

Data typeRetention period
Account dataRetained for as long as your account exists. On account deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days, subject to any legal obligation to retain records.
Debate and vote recordsRetained permanently in our internal database for product improvement and the Opinion Intelligence dataset (see Section 4), even after the 30-day public visibility window closes. Where retained, data is anonymised.
Result certificatesRemain valid and accessible to the user who earned them indefinitely.
Google Analytics dataRetained in accordance with Google's standard retention settings (default: 14 months).
Payment recordsRetained for as long as required by applicable financial and tax law (typically 7 years).

SECTION 4 — THE OPINION INTELLIGENCE DATA PRODUCT

Hoozright's long-term business includes an Opinion Intelligence product: a B2B service that allows media organisations, research firms, and brand strategists to access structured opinion data derived from debates on the Platform.

If and when this product is activated, any data made available to third parties will be:

  • Aggregated and anonymised — no data will be shared in a form that identifies you as an individual
  • Derived from vote outcomes, vote timing distribution, and demographic breakdowns only
  • Held exclusively by Hoozright — your individual vote record is never shared or sold

We will update this notice before the Opinion Intelligence product is activated and will notify registered users by email or via an in-Platform notification.

SECTION 5 — WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the following categories of trusted third parties, under appropriate data processing agreements.

Google Firebase (Firestore + Auth)Authentication and database infrastructure. Your account credentials, votes, comments, and scores are stored in Firebase Firestore and authenticated via Firebase Auth.
Google AnalyticsUsage analytics. Helps us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. Data is anonymised at collection.
Google GeminiAI-assisted content moderation. Comment and debate content may be passed to Gemini to detect toxicity and policy violations. This processing is server-side and does not involve cookies.
Payment processorSubscription billing for Hoozright Premium. Card data is processed directly by the payment processor under their own security standards.
Hosting infrastructurePlatform operation. Our hosting provider processes technical data (IP address, request logs) as part of serving the Platform.

All third-party processors are required to process your data only in accordance with our instructions and to maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures.

SECTION 6 — INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Some of our third-party processors (including Google) may transfer and process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK equivalent mechanisms.

SECTION 7 — YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data.

Withdraw consentWhere we rely on consent (for example, analytics cookies), you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@hoozright.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

If you are based in the EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are based in Ireland, that is the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie. If you are based in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

SECTION 8 — SECURITY

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. These include encrypted data storage and transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security review.

No system is completely secure. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@hoozright.com.

SECTION 9 — CHILDREN

Hoozright is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has registered on the Platform, contact us and we will delete their account and data promptly.

SECTION 10 — CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE

We may update this notice from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify registered users by email or via an in-Platform notification. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
